Franklin & Marshall College is a highly selective four-year residential liberal arts college dedicated to excellence. It aims to inspire in young people of high promise and diverse backgrounds a genuine and enduring love for learning, fostering qualities of intellect, creativity, and character so that they may live fulfilling lives and contribute meaningfully to their occupation, communities, and the world.
Franklin & Marshall College occupies 220 acres of residential, academic, and athletics campuses, with an additional 26 acres under new development. The College has experienced extensive expansion and modernization of facilities over the past 12 years, including the new 100,000-square-foot interdisciplinary Ann & Richard Barshinger Life Sciences & Philosophy Building, the Patricia E. Harris Center for Business, Government & Public Policy and Shadek Stadium, a new 2,500 multipurpose, turf athletic stadium. Ongoing campus renewal plans include the construction of the new, 35,000-square-foot Susan & Benjamin Winter Visual Arts Center on the south side of campus. The College has a history of strength in the sciences, humanities and arts, and in the study of government and business. With the development of the visual arts center well underway, the arts will expand their importance in the curriculum as well.
In 2014, Franklin & Marshall announced its Now to Next campaign, which launched its public phase in 2018. With a $200 million goal now 76% achieved, this is the largest fundraising campaign in the College’s history and slated to be completed in FY22.
