One of the top five United Ways in the world, Greater Twin Cities United Way just celebrated 100 years of touching the lives of over 1 million people in a nine-county region. The organization partners with local nonprofits, businesses, government and social service agencies to address its community’s most pressing needs. Those goals — stabilizing families, helping children succeed, and empowering healthy lives – encompass local issues ranging from hunger, housing, and domestic violence to educational programs, healthcare, and more. Approximately 88% of every dollar donated goes to initiatives and programs that help people in crisis get back on their feet, prevent future problems, and build a stronger community – a figure that is well above national guidelines.
