Idealist, the world’s largest nonprofit job platform and a vital connector for mission-driven talent seeking to make a difference, has appointed Bob Giannino as its new Board Chair. A longtime champion of civic engagement and nonprofit leadership, Giannino brings a deep commitment to talent development and mobilization in the sector.
Giannino’s connection to Idealist began decades ago when he served as Chair of the Board for the Campus Outreach Opportunity League, an organization dedicated to mobilizing college students to engage in community service and social impact initiatives. As the League’s representative, he joined Idealist when the two organizations merged, a move in line with his long dedication to leadership development and talent cultivation.
“Idealist has always been committed to bridging the gap between intention and action,” said Giannino. “What started as a job board to ensure nonprofit opportunities weren’t lost in the noise of private sector listings has grown into a platform that not only connects job seekers with meaningful careers but also helps communities mobilize locally to address pressing social challenges.”
Idealist has continuously evolved beyond its roots as a job board, expanding its reach to include internships, volunteer opportunities, and graduate school fairs that support careers in public service. Today, the organization is also leading efforts to empower individuals to directly address needs in their communities.
Giannino serves as Senior Vice President at Lindauer, a global executive search and talent firm dedicated to finding outstanding leaders for mission-driven organizations. In this role, he leverages his extensive experience to support nonprofits in building high-performing leadership teams.
Prior to Lindauer, Giannino served as CEO of United Way of Massachusetts Bay, where he led efforts to advance economic opportunity, strengthen community partnerships, and drive philanthropic growth.
