The Opportunity

The newly created role of Senior Director, Compensation within Stanford University Human Resources presents a unique opportunity to shape and lead a reorganized team of compensation professionals. This position is critical in refining and implementing fair and competitive compensation programs that attract, retain, and reward high-performing staff and executives.

The Senior Director will play a key role in consulting with HR unit heads across Stanford on compensation matters, leveraging their expertise in change management to contribute to the University’s multi-year HR transformation plan. This strategic initiative is focused on enhancing HR service delivery, making this an exciting time to join the Stanford community and drive significant impact.

In this role, the Senior Director will lead the development of best practice approaches in compensation, ensuring programs are aligned with Stanford’s total rewards strategy and employee value proposition. The Senior Director will partner with central HR colleagues in ongoing strategic planning, shaping a collaborative and cohesive compensation group.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in developing and managing compensation programs and structures, linking them to broader total rewards strategies, and advising senior leaders on compensation designs and implementations.

Located at the Stanford Redwood City campus, this role offers a chance to be part of a vibrant workplace dedicated to fostering a positive and productive environment for all employees.

The salary range for this position is $246,000 – $275,000.
