Louisiana State University (LSU) is a public, coeducational university with its flagship institution located in Baton Rouge. Founded in 1853 as the Louisiana State Seminary of Learning & Military Academy, LSU currently consists of 15 schools, more than 250 buildings and occupies a 650-acre plateau on the banks of the Mississippi River.
