NYU partnered with Lindauer to recruit two integral new leaders who will help advance University-wide priorities.
As New York University embarks on an era of innovation and excellence under the leadership of new president Linda G. Mills, the University announced the arrival of Laura Doherty and Caryn Karo as integral members of the Office of University Development and Alumni Relations.
Doherty and Karo now serve as Assistant Vice President, Development, Schools and Institutes and Assistant Vice President, Development, Individual Giving, respectively.
Laura Doherty comes to NYU with more than 20 years of leadership experience in higher education advancement. She arrives from Iona University, where she was the Senior Vice President of Advancement overseeing all aspects of the advancement office. Prior to Iona, Doherty was Vice President of Advancement at SUNY Purchase and before that was Associate Dean of Advancement and CEO of the William & Mary Business School Foundation, where she helped the school exceed their $150 million campaign goal.
Caryn Karo joins NYU with over 17 years of experience in development, most recently as the Executive Director of Regional Advancement and Interim Chief Development Officer of the Law School at Emory University. As Executive Director at Emory, she oversaw a team of major gift officers raising funds for priorities across the University and health system. Karo led her team in developing regional strategies for their work and represented 17 schools and units to engage major and principal gift prospects. In addition, she was appointed Interim CDO for Emory Law School, managing two advisory boards, supervising a team of development and engagement officers, and advising faculty and leadership during a dean transition.
Laura Doherty and Caryn Karo were appointed in the fall of 2023. The search was led by Lindauer Senior Consultant Chandra Montgomery and Senior Consultant Josh Maker.
