Martin will develop a range of in-person and online learning opportunities that engage, support, and educate 97,000 advancement professionals at every stage of their career journeys.
As it celebrates its 50th anniversary year, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) partnered with Lindauer to find an educational leader to provide innovative and strategic leadership for its Education Division. Starting August 1, Stephen Martin will serve as CASE’s Vice President of Education and a member of its Executive Leadership Team.
CASE is driving forward a global education strategy that anticipates and embraces trends in adult learning and leverages and builds upon CASE’s Career Journey framework, a comprehensive competency-based leadership development curriculum designed for every level and function of the advancement profession.
Martin and the Education team, along with dedicated volunteer leaders, will identify new delivery models for disseminating CASE’s cutting-edge professional development offerings, including implementing a more robust digital strategy, while maintaining CASE’s long-standing commitment to high-touch, in-person programs and convenings.
“Leading educational institutions and associations are building robust online learning programs that meet constituents where they are and provide meaningful, dynamic educational experiences for them,” said Paula Fazli, Lindauer Senior Vice President and Higher Education Practice Co-Lead. “As CASE works to extend the impact of its professional development offerings, we were proud to partner with them on an executive search that will make a profound difference in the lives and careers of more than 97,000 advancement professionals globally.”
Martin brings 30 years of experience in membership associations and professional training and development organizations, most recently as the Managing Director, Professional Development and Resources at the American Institute of Architects. There, he oversaw a member learning strategy to strengthen member value and retention, while integrating learning across delivery channels, including conferences, online learning platforms, and knowledge communities. As a result of Martin’s efforts, the AIA’s online learning platform has grown to deliver more than 300 programs annually.
A lifelong learner, Martin holds a BA in International Relations from Roanoke College (VA); studied Instructional Systems Design at George Mason’s Graduate School of Education; will soon complete an Executive MBA (September 2024) from the Quantic School of Business and Technology (DC); is a Certified Association Executive; and earned certificates in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Digital Events Strategy.
Stephen Martin was appointed in June 2024. The search was led by Lindauer Senior Vice President Paula Fazli and Consultant Cori Anderson.
