Dedicated to creating a healthcare landscape where compassion thrives, the Schwartz Center partnered with Lindauer to find an innovative new CEO to lead its mission of improving healthcare through human-centered programs, education, and advocacy.
Following an extensive search in partnership with Lindauer, the Schwartz Center has announced Michael Gustafson, MD, MBA is its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
With over three decades of healthcare leadership experience, Dr. Gustafson brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare strategy and operations. His visionary approach, underscored by a deep commitment to enhancing the patient experience, has earned him widespread recognition within the industry, making him an ideal fit to advance the Schwartz Center’s mission of prioritizing compassion in healthcare delivery.
Ellen Cohen, Founder of the Schwartz Center, commended Dr. Gustafson’s alignment with their mission, stating, “Michael’s visionary leadership, strategic acumen, and dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of healthcare workers, patients, and families align seamlessly with our core values.”
Previously at UMass Memorial Medical Center and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dr. Gustafson spearheaded initiatives focusing on patient safety, care quality, and operational excellence. His visionary leadership has been instrumental in navigating complex healthcare landscapes, earning accolades for his commitment to advancing compassionate care.
Dr. Gustafson received his medical degree from West Virginia University and was among the first surgeons to receive an MBA from Harvard Business School.
