The American Antiquarian Society (AAS) is both a learned society and a major independent research library. It is the oldest historical society in the United States with a national focus. AAS offers programs for professional scholars, pre-collegiate, undergraduate and graduate students, educators, professional artists, writers, genealogists and the general public.
To strengthen its ability to be the premiere library of record of pre-20th-century American imprints, AAS is embarking on a building expansion project, a new three-story, 7,000-square-foot addition to Antiquarian Hall. This will dramatically increase AAS’s capacity to preserve and to share the multitude of American stories documented in the printed record of our nation’s past.
