With its distinctive mission to foster academic excellence in an atmosphere of tolerance and multiculturalism, the University of Haifa is the most pluralistic institution of higher education in Israel. The faculty and student population of over 18,000 includes Jews, Arabs, Druze, Haredi, and secular students; new immigrants, and military and security personnel coming together to study, teach, and learn. Since its founding, almost 50 years ago, the University has developed into a world-class academic institution and has gained an international reputation in a variety of fields including public health, law, security studies, Holocaust research, cancer research, neurosciences, bioinformatics, marine sciences, and education.

The mission of the American Society of the University of Haifa (ASUH) is to increase awareness and financial support for the University of Haifa and to ensure its continued excellence in teaching, research, and community service. The organization cultivates relationships and serves as a vital connection between the University and its friends, supporters, alumni, and partner institutions in the United States. As the University of Haifa enters a period of tremendous growth that will have a significant impact on the entire State of Israel, ASUH seeks a tenacious and motivated self-starter to serve as its Western Region Director.
