The essence of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is its drive to tackle problems — especially those big, intractable problems whose solutions make a permanent difference. This storied research institution is not only committed to world-class inquiry in math, science, and engineering, but also has established distinguished programs in architecture, the humanities, management, and the social sciences. Creativity is key at MIT, where the most gifted minds from around the globe thrive in a diverse and supportive environment. Among the world’s leading universities, MIT stands tall in its commitment to develop in each member of its community the ability and passion to work wisely, creatively and effectively for the betterment of humankind.
In 2017, MIT publicly launched its $5 billion Campaign for a Better World. The Office of Philanthropic Partnerships is deeply engaged in campaign planning and strategy, currently raising $200-$250 million a year, with the goal of raising $350 million annually by the campaign’s conclusion in 2019.
