Measures for Justice (MFJ) was founded in 2011 with a simple theory of change: good data in the hands of the right people will generate positive change. MFJ CEO, Amy Bach, knows very few communities can look within themselves and see how they are doing on interactions with police relating to race, sex, and age. This nonpartisan organization does not identify individuals or take sides in conflict, or advocate for anyone. Measures for Justice provides the data. The data are supporting communities across the country as they dig in, sit down, and have hard conversations about how the criminal justice system is doing, backed with the facts to ultimately effect change. Systemic reform is slow, but as momentum builds to address deep inequities in the criminal justice system, MFJ is determined to provide the data needed to create a better, more equitable justice system.
