The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is the newest campus in the University of Texas System. Founded in 2013 by the Texas Legislature, UTRGV functions as a major public research university within the University of Texas System. In accordance with this goal, UTRGV’s students enjoy a multitude of research opportunities through collaboration with faculty and global leaders in industry, business, medicine, science, education, and technology. The University’s location near the southern border of the U.S. and the Gulf Coast also allows students to get hands-on experience in international business, cultural border issues, marine biology, and environmental science. During the course of its short tenure, the University has experienced rapid growth and success, most notably, with the opening of its School of Medicine in 2016, which has potential to transform and greatly improve medical care in the region.
The Institutional Advancement team, led by Executive Vice President, Dr. Kelly Scrivner, has also experienced tremendous success. Notable accomplishments include closing a $15 million gift to name its business school and raising more than $90M in four years.
