The University of Tennessee System provides education programs in a diverse learning environment that prepare students to be leaders in a global society. The mission of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is to bring the benefits of the health sciences to the achievement and maintenance of human health for the citizens of Tennessee and the region.
UTHSC’s College of Nursing was the first nursing college in the state and is widely recognized for innovative educational programs, cutting edge research, exemplary faculty practice, and development of nursing leaders. Benefitting from cross-discipline collaboration in the health science center, students can earn BSN, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DPN) and PhD degrees. UTHSC produces the largest number of DNPs in the country. It is currently engaged in efforts to create the Center for Community Partnerships and Nursing Innovation; a capital campaign for a new home on the science center campus; and new endowed chairs and scholarships.
