Serving all five boroughs of New York City, Scouting America – Greater New York Councils (GNYC) has been shaping young lives for a century. As one of the nation’s most urban Scouting organizations, GNYC provides transformative programs that foster leadership, character development, and career preparedness.
With an annual budget of $10 million, GNYC supports nearly 9,000 young people each year through a range of programs, including Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring. Additionally, GNYC’s Scoutreach initiative delivers after-school programming in underserved communities, ensuring that all youth have access to the benefits of Scouting.

The Opportunity
GNYC is seeking a dynamic Chief Development Officer (CDO) to elevate and transform its fundraising strategy and secure the resources needed to expand Scouting’s reach in New York City.
Reporting to the CEO, the CDO will collaborate with the Board, senior leadership, and a dedicated team to grow and diversify philanthropic support. This individual will drive fundraising across all channels—events, major gifts, corporate and foundation partnerships, annual and digital appeals, and capital campaigns—to ensure that GNYC remains a thriving, inclusive, and impactful force for youth development in one of the most diverse cities in the world.
The ideal candidate is an action-oriented fundraising leader with deep experience in New York City philanthropy. They will bring a proven ability to scale fundraising efforts, engage high-net-worth individuals, and develop innovative strategies to increase revenue. Passion for youth development, community engagement, and the mission of Scouting is essential.

The salary range for this position is $165,000 – $180,000.
